MiSTer doesn't require active cooling. These kits can be left on 24/7 with any core. Core to core temperature variation is minimal.
The case is the heatsink, dissipating internal heat to the exterior.
Analog IO kits output analog video + HDMI simultaneously and can only use a single SDRAM module
Digital IO kits do HDMI or analog video (HDMI2VGA adapter required, like the Reflex Prism) and come with dual SDRAM modules.
The Coin-Ops Collection's Williams Z unit core is currently the only core that uses dual SDRAM. The Saturn core is in beta and has single and dual SDRAM test builds.
All kits can be upgraded to the other IO board by simply replacing the rear panel.

These measurements were performed in 2020, just before the case was released. Since that time, thousands have been sold and used all around the world. Rest assured the case provides both adequate cooling and protection. The FPGA used by the DE10-nano has a max temp rating (TJmax) of 100C. It's an industrial-class device and this aluminum armor is the best enclosure for it.

As a gamer of some 35+ years, I’ve used just about everything out there from original hardware, modern consoles, pc emulation, official mini devices and modern solutions such as Android / raspberry pi etc. In this regard I can honestly say that the Mister project has been a revelation for me. The systems it supports are so accurate and play superbly - I’ll never use another device again. I’d advise anyone who loves retro gaming to damn the cost and get one of these things. The cost you save on original hardware, the ability to use crt televisions and the vibrant community ensures that the mister pays for itself!
On to my purchase - the growler green fully assembled mister is actually my second mister (my first bought from an eBay seller which came with a misteraddons aluminium case in black). Therefore I already know that these passive cooling cases are superb. The growler green case exceeded my expectations - it’s stunning in the flesh and has the same premium feel as my other one. To save the hassle of sourcing parts, I went for the full build - as expected misteraddons has delivered a beautiful device, carefully assembled and works flawlessly.
Shipping to the UK was also hassle free with full delivery tracking and a unit that was well packed and protected. For UK buyers just be mindful of the customs charges in the uk which is sadly an extra cost factor (and not fault of misteraddons) - this amounted to about £100 extra for a fully assembled unit. Again this was within my expectations and I chose to offset the cost to get the unit I wanted - no regrets.
Overall I’m very happy with my new addition to the mister family and had a great experience from this store. Anyone on the fence should go for one of these - particularly with the aluminium case as they are just gorgeous and a much more elegant / robust solution than the general acrylic and fan set up you see elsewhere. A++
